RIGHT HERE! At the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta you’ll find a hot cop and many other animated characters as part of the Special Shape balloons on display. This year’s event takes place in just a couple of weeks: October 1-9. The theme for this year is appropriately titled “Desert Kaleidoscope” and promises to be a colorful and fun extravaganza!
If you have never been to this event before, the main activities are the morning balloon ascensions and the evening ‘glows’. Both are spectacular and not to be missed. However, in addition to this there are local dancers, air shows, fund-raising projects, aeronautics displays–including one where you can fly your own balloon from the ground!, product vendors, food vendors, souvenir shops, environmental and social interaction booths, fireworks displays, and even a national hot air balloon museum. Plenty of things to keep you occupied for a weekend or more!
But if you’ve never been before, you should know that this event draws huge crowds, both locally and nationally. So if you want to get the most out your visit, purchase a Fun Excursions in a Box Guide at funexcursionsinabox.com. They are inexpensive and give you the lowdown on what to see, what to do, what to avoid, where to park and even some other not-to-be-missed sites in the Albuquerque area. You’ll be glad you did!
