While New Hampshire is well known for its sporting and tourism activities in all 4 seasons of the year, it still holds the core elements on which this country was founded–farming and hard work.
In fact, New Hampshire agriculture ranks in the top spot nationally in some interesting aspects of the industry. For example, the state ranks:
– #1 in the U.S. for Direct to Consumer sales as a percentage of all farm sales
– #1 in U.S. for ORGANIC sales as a percentage of all farm sales.
– #3 for WOMEN farm operators as a % of farm operators.
Around 4,400 farms, each about 100 acres in size, produce a variety of crops in the Granite State.
